I would like to hear from anyone who attended this secondary school before and during WWII. Anyone remember the "Spy on Potters" roof? That was me playing with the lights while supposedly firewatching the store!

Hello Helen, I saw your mail on the Scotland on Film site and felt I had to respond. I didn't attend "The Stobbie" but my mother and aunts and uncle did. My mother was Ethel Grant who lived in Broughty Ferry Road. She must have attended Stobswell from about 1939 - 1943. She left school to go work in Baxter's mills as a weaver before meeting my dad (a glaswegian) at the Empress ballroom in 1946. She attended Glebe street primary before going to secondary. Sadly, mum died in 1996 at the age of 68. Maybe this will bring back some memories for you, and it would be nice to receive a reply if you get this mail!
