Ann O'Donnell. Posted 28 Nov 2002. I went to school in Springburn, Glasgow in the 1950s. I have good memories of childhood and the days seemed to be very carefree, excellent schools and teachers or do we only remember the good parts? Primary school was Wellfield and senior secondary was Albert it was be interesting to find out if they still exist. | | |

I also went to Albert, although in the 1970's. The building still exists, but is now called Springburn Academy.

| | Andrew Hope from Minnesota, USA. Posted 14 May 2003. My memory might be a wee bit shaky, but if Wellfield Primary was the one at the top of the hill past the flats, then the row of shops was across the street at the side of the school. I used to buy midget gems in the papershop. Across from the front of the school was one shop - I forget the name - but it was an off-licence and also sold some groceries. My mum worked there part time for a few months. My pal Stewart McDonald lived behind it, and I remember climbing onto the roof and dreeping off it when the owner chased us off it.

| | Joyce Bell, nee Pirie from Alva, clackmannanshire. Posted 12 Jul 2006. I started Balornock Primary in 1960 and my teacher was called Miss Totten, not sure of the spelling. I still remember the smell of crayons and chalk. My gran lived in Cardarroch street and we had moved to Cumbernauld in 1962 but I returned to the old school for a short while in 1963 when I was staying with gran as mum was in hospital having my sister. Am now 50 years old and still have wonderful memories of my childhood in Balornock.
