Alexander III defeats Haakon IV Haakonsson, King of Norway, at the Battle of Largs. In 1266, Haakon's successor, Magnus, signed the Treaty of Perth which surrendered sovereignty of the Western Isles to the Scottish crown. Video: Rioghachd nan Eilean.
