Erosion
The action of waves is a crucial factor in the formation of our coastline.
Waves can be a powerful force, with the potential to create – as well as completely destroy – our beaches. Their energy influences the size and shape of our cliffs and rocks, and ultimately helps to determine the structure of the coastal landscape.
In order to understand waves, it is necessary to look at the way in which they are formed, the nature of their behaviour and the way in which they affect the landscape.
