Coastlines of sea level change

There are a number of features around our coastline which have formed as a result a change in sea level.

Raised beaches, fjords and rias, were created thousands of years ago during relatively dramatic periods of natural climate change (such as an Ice Age and the thaw that followed).

However, the issue of rising sea levels is one which is becoming more and more topical due to the effects of global warming. As the world’s temperature increases, causing the icecaps to melt and the oceans to expand, sea levels worldwide are expected to rise. This could affect low-lying areas across the globe.
