Scotland has over 6000 miles of coastline. The landscape is constantly changing and evolving, continuously being shaped and reshaped by many different processes.
Our physical environment consists of a diverse range of geographical features – from long sandy beaches and grassy marshland to rugged cliff faces and towering stacks.
This section explores the coastal landscape, its many distinctive features and the way in which these have been formed.
