This year saw the 31st incarnation of the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival swinging with a wealth of music from every era in venues around the city. Highlights included the Edinburgh Jazz Festival Orchestra performing music inspired by Robert Burns; jazz icon Chet Baker was celebrated in several events, including Bruce Weber's classic documentary Let's Get Lost which filled the Filmhouse, and Ibrahim Electric, the contemporary Hammond organ groove exponents from Denmark. The latter's sounds feature in our interview with the Festival's Associate Director Roger Spence, recorded for Radio Scotland's Jazz House programme in July - see below.
