George's Story

When my parents died I found the medals of my great uncle, George Foale, from the First World War but I did not know much about him so I wrote to the Commonweath War Graves Commission and they gave me the following infromation.

George Foale, No. R/41770, 19th Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps. Died 26th October 1918. Commemorated at Harlebeke New British Cemetery, Harelbeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belguim.

He was the husband of Mary Elizabeth Foale of 24 Upper Clifton Place, Easton, Bristol. He was my mother's uncle and she did talk of him although she was only a child when he was killed. I would like his name put on the wall of remembrance because I am proud of him, my other uncle (Frank Wakeman) and all those who fought and were killed in both wars.
