Thomas's Story
Thomas enlisted with his elder brother John Henry in 1914 and was a driver in 70th Battery Royal Field Artillery, 34th Bde. He saw action at Mons and met up with the main BEF at Ypres.During the First Battle of Ypres, whilst driving a team of four horses carting ammunition,Tom was severely injured and the horses were shot from under him. He was repatriated to Military Hospital in Manchester where he died on Sunday 29th Nov.1914 and was buried at Ford Cemetery, Liverpool. His widow Mary died in Oct 1940 due to injuries sustained by a bomb in Liverpool, she was 53.John Henry survived the War and died in 1957 aged 74
