Albert's Story
Albert was my father, a wonderful man. He never spoke much about the First World War.
He served in France, he was slightlly gassed. He told me a story that in the trenches, the gas had a nice smell, so people raised their heads above the trenches and then were gassed. He also had shrapnel in his neck which was never removed and he also had trench feet.
He worked at Saffron Walden during WW2 building for the American airforce. He was also a Firefighter in WW2 in Newhaven.
