John's Story
John Cassidy 1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers Second Lieuenant The Military Cross For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty.
During an advance his company came under intense machine-gun and rifle fire, and progress become impossible . Heat once rallied his men,fearlessly exposing himself, and carried out an orderly with-drawal . He carried back all the wounded, finally bringing in another officer who was badly wounded, though attacked at the time by an enemy party, whom he drove of with his revolver.
