Reuben's Story

Born in Coventry, Reuben worked as a coal miner at Exhall or Bedworth, and was also a Part-Time, or 'Saturday-Night' Soldier. In 1913 Edith gave birth to a son, Reuben (my Grandfather). When War broke out, like thousands others he sacrificed family for his country and adventure, forming part of the Royal Warwicks 1/7th btn, 48th Division (4303). He was killed in action on 01/01/1916, a huge loss to wife and child.

When my Great Grandfather Reuben Kimberley had a son in 1913, he named him Reuben. He in turn kept the name, calling his 1st son (my late Uncle) Frederick Reuben. My dad named me Damien Reuben, and in Novemeber 2007, I had a son, calling him Reuben James Kimberley.

My Great Grandfather's Widow, Edith did re-marry out of necessity, to George Allen, her 2nd Cousin. George himself did survive the War but lost one leg as a consequence.
