Joseph's Story

Joseph was my father. I know so little about his experiences in WW1 because he didn't talk about it.

I do know that he was injured when taking supplies to the Front. A shell blew up his truck, he was blown into a ditch and his horse remained with him until he was discovered. Both legs were broken and a French surgeon did a remarkable procedure, enabling him to live normally after the War when he worked as a Bus Conductor. The only other thing we know about him was that when he joined the Army he was 5 feet tall, after the injury his height was 4 foot 10 inches.
