Michael's Story

My grandfather was a member of the 1st East Lancashires. He was wounded near Le Cateau on 26 August 1914, only four days after his regiment arrived in France. He was discharged in consequence of no longer being fit for war service on 24 March 1915. He was left with one leg shorter than the other after being shot through his left thigh.
