John's Story
I never met my grandfather but before my father died he told me his own first memory of him. He was at the cinema with his mother during the 1st World War when a message flashed on the screen asking Mrs Caines to go home because her husband was back from the war. They had been watching a Charlie Chaplin film. As they came down to their house he saw a soldier with a rifle. It was the first time he had ever seen his father.
