ERNEST's Story

202051 Lance Corporal. Ernest Harrison was killed in Action on May 4TH 1917 age 22 years .He was in the Sherwoodforesters 2nd/5th Bn.

He is Buried in Bellicourt British Cemetery Ainse France , Before he went off to serve for his country he lived in the then little village of Enderby Leicestershire ,with his parents Walter and Mary Harrison also to leave 3 brothers behind Ronald (My Grandfather) Sydney and Kenneth . My Great Gandmother made several trips to France to visit his Grave she died in 1967 aged 94 years old . In 2006 my Husband and I went to visit Bellicourt Cemetery and found his grave , It was a very moving experiance to visit my Great uncle and to remember the sacrifice the soldiers made, I was also able to write my name in the book of Remembrance which is held at the Cemetery .Lest We Forget .
