William Bill's Story

His miner at Moorgreen Colliery. When they formed Eastwood Victory Club, he was appointed the 1st Steward.

He was presented with `Pip squeak and wilford` Medals which I have in a framed portrait.

When they had to leave trenches and go over the top, he said that if a soldier refused due to fright, he may have been shot to prevent others refusing to go over.
