George's Story
George Clifford Bryan joined the Western Union Cable Co. on leaving school and amongst his other duties he became a qualified morse code operator.
In 1917 he joined the Army and was enrolled into The Royal Engineers, presumably because of his morse code skills. He never went abroad and was demobbed in 1919. He returned to work for Western Union for the rest of his life, giving 43 years service.
