William's Story

William was my Grandfather's (David Coutts) brother. He is buried in Maing Communal Cemetery and although I never new him I feel proud to be a descendant of this brave man, who came through numerous battles only to be killed in action on 24th October 1918, two weeks before the end of the war. His widow and son William moved to New Zealand soon after his death and made a new life for themselves.
