Margaret's Story
This is in memory of a Nurse Margaret McKenzie who tended to her brother Thomas McKenzie one of the wounded. He survived the war but died later of his injuries age 33. Margaret tended to victims of the first gas attack at field hospital - the soldiers were in agony as mustard gas was still in their uniforms continuing to burn. When clothing was removed the skin came off with the clothes. After another battle her only brother Thomas McKenzie was one of the wounded. She calmly attended to him then moved on to the next man.
