Harold's Story
He never really spoke about the war as did most of his generattion
I knew my grandfather very well and I was about 13 when he died. However he never talked about the war and my Dad says he never even kept his medals. Dad say he would not talk to him about the war except to say it was terrible. I think a lot of his generation kept quiet about the war because the numbers killed were so awful and it was the first mechanised war. His discharge papers say he was a 'man of good character'.
