Hyman's Story

The eldest of 12 brothers and sisters, some of whom never met him. His body was lost in the toils of battle 10th May 1917. Commemorated with thousands of other brave souls at the memorial in Arras.

Hyamn served in the 1/12th Battalion London Regiment (The Rangers).

On the date of his death it seems as though his battalion were in the trenches at Guemappe, near Arras.

The battalion's position was severely shelled during the evening, resulting in 10 dead and 19 wounded.
