William Leefe's Story

Captain William Leefe Robinson was the first person to shoot down a German Airship over English soil in an aerial battle. He was awarded a Victoria Cross which was the fasted awarded on record. He became an instant hero and a superstar of his day. Babies, flowers and hats have been named after him. A modest man, when all of London were filling the air with the sounds of whistles, sirens and hooters - "the cause of it all - little me sitting in my little aeroplane above 13,000 feet of darkness!"
