Robert's Story

Robert Thomas Edwards was my Grandfather. He was called up into The Norfolk Regiment. He served in Bagdad and by 1918 was in India, Poona.

Here is a twist in a war time episode:

His wife Mary who was at home looking after their five Children the youngest being only 18 months, suddenly died a few days before Christmas 1918. The children were distributed around members of the family. The news didn't reach him until February 1919 and he was unable to get home until October 1919. Most of the letters written by them have survived.
