george's Story

Gunner George Conway. Killed in action 14th June 1917. Son of Charles and Martha Conway of Waterloo, Liverpool.

I knew that my father had had four uncles but only became aware in late 1998 that my father had never met his uncle George, as he was killed in June 1917 and my father was born some 10 years later. In January of 1999 we traced Gunner George Conway's final resting place to be at Bunyans Cemetery, Tilloy-les-Mofflaines, Pas de Calais, France, which we have been fortunate to have been able to visit twice.
