Percival's Story
Percy was a bricklayer's son and became a bricklayer's apprentice. His address was given as the New Inn (now the Drummer Boy) at market lavington. His auntie was Annie Hester Oram, my grandmother. His name is on the Menin Gate memorial at Ypres in Belgium. I visit it often. He was in the Wiltshire Regiment but ended up in the Machine Gun Corps. He died on the 31 of July 1917 aged 20 years. A village boy, just like me.
