Sidney Fuller's Story
Private Sidney Davis, who went into action with the 1st Battalion Cheshires at Mons in 1914. He was one of the few survivors, and spent the remainder of the war as a Prisoner of War. He and others made themselves a confounded nuisance to the Germans and as a result were in a total of 18 different POW camps. The highlight was to be sent on a rather nasty reprisal to the Russian front - very few coming back from that in 1917. A letter smuggled out from Private Davis to his father was sent to the war office, and action was taken to resolve this situation. Sidney Fuller Davis died in 1967.
