Herbert's Story
A very distant relative of mine (last common ancestor, 1580), discovered through acquiring Herbert's medals! Died 12/11/1918, the day after the Armistice. Awarded Military Cross for managing a machine gun during a retreat, causing heavy casualties. Conspicuous Gallantry and Devotion to Duty.
Buried Woolos Cemetery, Newport, south Wales.
Proudly remembered 90 years on.
