John's Story
John Warr was my great uncle. My mother didn't even know her uncle and was never told about him, so very little is known by us about him. He became the eldest male of the household in 1911 when his father died. It is not known exactly when he enlisted but it is thought to be about 1916-1917. He was in the 9th Battalion of the KRRC. He died on 15 December 1917 aged 19 years at Bellevue and is buried in Tyne Cot Cemetery.
We can only imagine what kind of person he was, but we will never forget him. Always remembered - he died so young.
