Killed in action 29th July 1918
My great-uncle Jimmy Rainey was a Territorial soldier who volunteered for Great War service. Serving first in Gallipoli then in defense of the Suez Canal before moving to the war in Palestine. In early 1918 the 52nd Lowland Division was moved to the Western Front and eventually they fought in the 2nd Battle of the Marne. He was killed in the battle of Beugneux on 29th July 1918 and is buried in the CWGC cemetery in Villemontoire, France.
