Charles's Story

Charles volunteered in September 1914 (he was under age ). In 1915 he was drafted to the Dardanelles and took part in the landing at Suvla Bay (Gallipoli). In 1917 he was transferred to France and was in action at Arras and Ypres where he was wounded. After the war he served in India and Palestine and rose through the ranks to become RSM and then a captain.
