Arthur's Story

My great uncle Arthur Price enlisted in the 13th Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers in 1915 and left for France in December 1915. The Battalion were in action on the Somme in July 1916 at Mametz Wood. Arthur survived the bitter battles there and went on to serve in the trenches near Brielen in Belguim. There on the 12th October 1916, he was involved in a trench raid on the German front line. Although the raid was successful, Arthur was badly wounded and died the next day, the 13th. He was buried on the 14th (his 28th birthday) at Mendinghem British Cemetery. Always remembered
