Herbert was born on the 18th November 1884 too Herbert and Emma Simpson my Great Great grand parents.
They lived in Mollart Street Hanley Stoke on Trent.
He was the eldest bothers too Elizabeth, Thomas, John and Harry.
He joined the 1st Battalion of the North Staffordshire Regiment and fought in France.
Herbert was wounded and died later on the 15th October 1918 aged 32.
He is buried in the Military Cemetery East Cambrai.
