William Henry's Story

William was killed on the 31st May 1918 in the Bligny Hill region. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the war memorial at Soisson and on the war memorial at Alwington, Devon.

William enlisted for duty before the 9th March 1915.

He was in the 2nd Devonshire Regiment and his service number was 15797.

His two brothers also enlisted, Reuben, my Grandfather, was born the year after William and Alfred who was born in 1899.

They both survived the war. Their parents were William and Frances Daniel of Hall Cottage, Fairy Cross, Alwington, Bideford, Devon.
