Joseph Edmund's Story

Joseph enlisted 31 Aug 1914 shortly after the outbreak of WW1 originally as a Pioneer but remustered to Sapper Telegrapher Field Line with the 15th Signal Company, Royal Engineers. In June 1918 he suffered burns in a hut fire at Arras and returned to hospital in England. He returned to duty Sept 1918 and was demobilized in March 1919. Joseph spent the remainder of his working life as an upholsterer in Portsmouth and died shortly before his 90th birthday.

His younger brother Harry (Machine Gun Corps) did not survive WW1 and died from wounds 11/11/1917 at Ypres.
