Edgar's Story

Edgar was a promising local footballer before the war and had trials at Stockport County. He unfortunately lost both legs at the Somme in 1916 during the battle of Hell Fire Corner. We know he spent a while at a field army hospital and was awarded the British Service Medal but any other information is quite scarce. We also know that he was buried at Lytham St Anne's Lancashire when he died in the 1960s. I'm his great grandson and would love to know more about this brave man.
