Kemble Fredrick's Story

Great Uncle Kem Vounteered in 1915 Joining the 2/4th Batt Queen's Own Royall West Surrey Reg at Croydon the family's home town.

He served in Gallipoli after 800 0f the 1,000 men were lost they were sent to Egypt to Reform..

Kem was wounded at the Battle of Khuweilfeh as word reached home that Kem' would be coming home!

The Batt' was sent from Alexandria by boat to Southern Italy where they were loaded into Cattle trucks for eight days arriving in Ypres Salient, why Kem never got home is unknown!

All working wounded Kem being one of those was sent with 22nd corps to Soissons area as the Germans where braking through,

Fighting at Percy, Tigny & Grand Rozoy.

The Family ( Kem's wife in answer to her letters )

Were told he died of wounds or was killed in action on or since 29th July 1918 ( I have the very Telegram! )

The Family held the thought he had No known grave!

Thanks to my resurch and the wonderful C.W.G.C

I was able to visit my grat Uncles grave this year 90 years after his death!

He's is buried at Raperie British Cemetery Villemontoire France..

Along with 497 others all dieing with in a two week Period!

He was 34..
