Harold's Story
As a child I used to hear, in hushed tones, my Grandma and Great Aunt talking about their brother who was killed in the First World war. He wrote poetry, was an illustrator and was grieved over for the rest of my Grandma's life. Fast forward to this year. I went on a World War One battlefield tour and our guide found the tiny, remote village Achiet Le Grand in Northern France. We found Harold's grave and it was an incredibly thought provoking moment. I don't relly know much about him, but I know his blood flows in my veins and I was extremely moved by the experience. The tour has changed my life and my husband's who came with me. I really didn't realise the extent of the carnage and sheer waste of life.
