George's Story

Company Sergeant Major George Bricknell MM

In memory of George with the gratitude of all subsequent generations.

10088 D Company 8th Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment.

Awarded the Military Medal for carrying a message under heavy fire when two previous attempts had failed with the messengers losing their lives.

Killed in separate action 12th October 1917 aged 37. No known grave.

Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial Zonnebeke West-Vlaadersen Belgium panel 90-92 162-162A.
