Donald Gunn's Story

Donald Gunn MacKay was born in the St Giles Parish of Edinburgh

I am 19 1/2 months abroad and do not know when I will get leave.

in 1887 and worked at George Harrison Textiles in Chambers Street before joining the 15th Battalion Royal Scots at the start of World War I as a Private, 43411. He was a keen footballer and played for St Giles Club Team, his father having played for Hearts and Scotland. He served in Egypt and the

Western Front and was killed in the Battle of Arras -28/4/1917.
