George's Story
My Grandfather, George Radford served in the Great War, firstly in the Royal Engineers and then in the Royal Flying Corps. Before the end of the war he was honourably discharged from the Army to return to the UK, as his civilian trade was a boiler marker. He was needed to help build and repair ships for the war effort. When he moved from the Royal Engineers, his colleagues though enough of him that they kindly gave him a clock to remember them by. This clock stood on the side in his house from after the war until he died. Alas when his house was cleared the clock was sold (in the Colchester area) and the family have never seen it again.
