Thomas Alvin's Story
Had prior service in India 1895 and South Africa 1900 with the 2nd Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He enlisted in September 1914 and transferred to the 9th (Co. Tyrone) Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and served for 2 years on the Western Front until he was wounded.
He cam back home to Ireland and transferred to the 12th Battalion before transferring to the 16th (Transport) Bn Worcestershire Regiment serving with them until the end of the War.
He later served with Bomb Disposal part of the Chinese Labour Corps until 1920 afterwhich served with the Dorset Regiment until finally demobed in 1921.
During the Second World War he was Recruiting Agent for the Army in his home town of Cookstown, Co. Tyrone.
