Albert Edward Taylor's Story
Albert was a member of the 5th Bn the Wiltshire Regiment, who died on the 23rd of Novemeber 1915.
Albert is commemorated at Helles Memorial in Turkey.
Albert is believed to be only 16 years old at the time of his death. Offical records state that he was 21 at the time, however family stories tell of how Albert joined the army in early 1915 after being labled as a coward and was given a white feather by local women who did not know Alberts true age. Photos of Albert show him to be of exceptional height which is how we believe he was able to enlist despite his tender age.
Further family story's tell of how Albert died after being shot in the leg in which the same bullet hit several of his commrades who are believed to have survived. Albert was believed to be buried at sea after he died of his wounds.
