Harry's Story
my grandad told me a story of the time when his regiment were
in Belgium
and the conditions of the trenches they were in were terrible
and drinking water was very scarce because sometimes if the chap with the water wagon was killed grandad and his fellow soldiers would have to wait until the next wagon was sent up many days later and at times when boredom set in he and his mates would have a competition to see who could find
the most lice in their kilt. The kilts they wore were not like the kilts worn today, the material was very course and heavy which
made the swaying of the hem a good protection for the buttocks when trying to avoid German gunfire.
