Sidney's Story
Sid enlisted in the 2nd Battalion of the Devonshire Regiment while he was living and working in Bargoed in South Wales. Service No 14295.
Sid was my Father's first cousin and the only member of our family to die in WW!
He was killed in action 16 August 1917 during the Passchendaele offensive. He has no known grave.
He is recorded on Panels 38-40 at the Tyne Cot Memorial in Belgium.
My Dad was 6 when the news of Sid's death came and he remembered it and the affect it had on the family.
