Francis S's Story
My Grandpop went to war was injured and had terrible dreams.
Went we went to stay with my auntie and Grandpop we were warned not to get scared Grandpop was dreaming. He never talked about the war .He wrote a diary which sadly got lost .He fought in France and in the Middle East somewhere else . He got medals which were kept and valued . My brother has researched the part my grandfathers played in the war, both of whom survived. When they came back it was life as usual no post traumatic stress councelling. He was shell shocked had frost bite and recently I was told he buried alive. I remember a loving gentleman who took me for long walks gave me sweets and was never angry. He lived in a small loving rural community what a shock the horrors of death and suffering war must have . The war to end all wars. I remember my Grandpop and his bad dreams.
