Wilfred's Story

'We must remember them'

Wilfred was the only son of the Mitchell family and brother of my mother Olive Dimond (nee Mitchell). This photo stood by my mothers bedside for the rest of her life, and since her death I have been to Flanders and traced his last days and the battlefield at Poelcapelle nr. Ypres, where he was killed on the 12Oct. 1917. His body was never found, but he is remembered on a wall plaque at Tyne Cot. Memorial, nearby.
