Arthur's Story

Arthur was the youngest of four boys, his body was never found.

Rifleman Arthur Alfred Simons dies at the battle of Cambrai age 19 on Friday 15th September 1916

He was born in the East end of London. His sister was my Grandmother. They lived around the corner from my Grandfather and they were all friends. My Grandparents did not marry until 1921. He died at cambrai which was the first battle to use tanks.

His name is on the Thiepval Memorial. He was just 19 years old
