Herbert Edgar Roberts's Story
Father of five children aged under 10 years when he was called to service as one of the older married men in 1916. He died in August 1917 as a result of wounds received at the Battle of Hill 70 when the Durham Light Infantry were engaged with other British troops and Canadian regiments.
Remembered by my father, his oldest child, as a loving father with a great sense of humour and fun.
