William's Story
William served in the 2nd Gordon Highlanders. He volunteered on 1915 with his two pals S/13246 John Hayes and S/13245 William J Crosthwaite. Thet went into battle on the 1st July 1916 at Mametz. My grandad was lucky his two pals died.

I visited the Gordon Highlandes Cemetry at Mametz in early September 2008 - it was very moving. I am forever indebted to those young lads who gave up so much. God bless.
